Life has been so busy with raising children, running a business, working fulltime you sometimes forget the simple things in life. Remember how things were when you were younger. Today there is so many chemicals and additives added into our everyday items. This year our family is trying to llive a more natural life. This blog will contain recipes, gardening tips, links to other blogs who share the same passion as I do.

Busy days ahead

Well it certainly has been a busy couple of weeks at this house.  We have been packing up our belongings ready for the big move at the end of October.  I am really looking forward to it as the new house we are moving into is an older style home plus it has the man cave for Bill.  It also has a large cupboard built under the staircase which I am turning into a storage area for all my preserves etc.  I will even be able to make some old fashion Ginger Beer and have somewhere dark to store it.  With summer just around the corner this will be a favourite with our son William and of course Bill.  I can't wait to turn the yard into a productive fruit and vegie garden and this time will be adding a sensory garden full of lavenders, roses and of course my herbs.

The last couple of weeks I have been busy transplanting all my herbs from my garden into pots and all my pots are currently at my daughters place.  Fruit trees are there as well and Miss Rhiannon did pick the Mulberries of the tree and of course had a white shirt on and thankfully it was an old shirt.  The sad thing about leaving this house is my vegie patch.  I hope the new tenants use it and continue to add new vegies to it.  They will have a great summer crops of lettuce, tomatoes, pumpkin, watermelon, beetroot, rhurbarb, eggplant, cabbage, and carrots.  I hope they enjoy the garden as much as I have and continue to use it and not let it go to seed.

I harvested a few potatoes which I will keep to use to grow at our new place.  Nothing like cooking with produce from your own garden.

Anyway lots to do this week.  I am already planning the new garden at the new place.  I am thinking of a couple of coffee trees and some raspberry bushes.

Where Fresh IS BETTER than frozen vegetables

For the past 8 months I have been busy building our vegetable patch.  At the moment we have Pumpkins, beetroot, lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage, zuchinnis, eggplant, rhurbarb, radishes, carrots, watermelon, cauliflower and potatoes which I just harvest and of course a large array of herbs and a few fruit trees.  We are currently in the process of moving house so the next tenants will inherit a vegie patch full of goodies.  Not to worry I already have plans for the new place and we will be staying at least 2-3 years there so our vegies will be plenty.

I don't buy a great deal of frozen vegies these days and if I need to now I will make sure I read the label alot better.  I have normally stuck to the well known brands like Heinz but now finding out they get their vegetables from China where they are grown in appalling conditions and sprayed with chemicals which are band in our country I through them all out.  I had always been told if you can't buy fresh buy frozen because they are just as good.  Not anymore.  No wonder so many people have allergies etc the big companies are slowly killing us.

Off to the organic fruit market this weekend where I meet the growers and know my produce is grown local.

Unconditional Love and Acceptance.

I had been having a fabulous couple of weeks at work and at home.
Work had been a struggle to get back into.  I have worked for many years but the last few years I was my own boss so I didn't need to answer to anyone.  Earlier this year with all the floods in Queensland I needed to find another job and run my business part time.  That has been exactly what I did.  I have spent many years previously working within the disability field.  This is the work I love.  So with that in mind I returned back to work and at the start found it a bit of a struggle having a boss to answer too.  But along the way I met up with some old work friends and they were always there to help me through the early struggle.  I have felt lately that I had grown into my roll.  I am very greatful for my job and I truly love the people I have met and the friends I have made.
This week was just another week.  I thought people were starting to accept me and things were going fine.  But one wrong comment changed my whole day and made me realise it will take a bit longer to build a trust with some people.

What did I do.  I went back into my office and saw the most beautiful angelic face looking at me and realised that not everyone will accept you but the people who are truly important to you will and they will give you unconditional love and acceptance no matter what.

My family are my rock.  My children and especially my grandchildren are the most amazing gift  that I could ever have and they accept me for who I am and give me unconditional love.

To my amazing family you all rock my world.

Springtime

I love an edible garden.

First day of spring and the garden is starting to come alive. With the rain we have had over the last few weeks all the vegies are green and have grown so big. Flowers are starting to come out in bloom. I love springtime.

Newly planted Beefsteak Tomato's have shot up in a week.

Potatoes are going great

My husband hates cauliflower but might change his mind if it is coming from our own garden.

Sugar leaf Cabbage

Lettuce

Flowers on our Lime Tree.

It will be a busy weekend in the garden.  Plenty of seedlings to go in plus some compost which needs to be added.  I truly love this time of the year.  Hopefully we will have a great supply of summer vegies plus watermelon.  I have the grandchildren coming over Saturday Night for a BBQ and I know they always like to check what is growing in the garden.

What sort of plants do you grow.  Do you grow vegies.

Have a great week everyone.
